Services to Students
The AAAC provides many services to students at the University of Kansas.
The AAAC serves as the home for Disability Resources at KU. Students work with Disability Resources to provide and coordinate student accommodations. In this regard, the AAAC will contact and work with students, faculty, and staff in order to provide proper accommodation for students at KU.
The AAAC also provides students with Tutoring Services at KU. Students may request a tutor in disciplines that include Math, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, French, Spanish, and Italian. Other courses may be offered based on student demand and the availability of tutors. Students may contact Tutoring Services about working together in adding a course if one is not currently being offered. The tutoring program provides small group, course specific tutoring and the groups meet twice a week for one-and-a-half hours each session. Tutors go through a rigorous application process and two references are required.
Another resource offered by the AAAC is the ability to provide workshops for individual classes; these workshops cover a multitude of topics, ranging from study skills to goal setting. AAAC staff present these workshops, and they can serve as a helpful resource for students at KU.
Finally, the AAAC offers individual consultations for KU students who are struggling with academic success. Individual consultations focus on skill development in the areas of time management, study skills, test taking strategies, and more. Call the AAAC office at 785.864.4064 for more information.
